Bayern Munich honourary president Franz Beckenbauer has revealed that the club have indicated to Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri that he can leave in January if he wants to.

The Swiss international was desperate to leave the German champions in the summer, with Liverpool front of the queue, but the club blocked any transfer.

However, it has been claimed coach Pep Guardiola is now convinced Shaqiri cannot adapt to his style of football.

And Beckenbauer revealed that Bayern Munich are ready to let the 23-year-old leave in the winter transfer window. He also indicated that the club are tired of the player’s regular moaning about life at the Allianz Arena.

“Bayern have sent some signals to the boy, who can leave the club once the window opens”, the German told Sky Deutschland.

“Personally I want players at the club who want to stay with us and if a player wants otherwise, he is free to leave for another team.”

Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are keeping a close eye on proceedings at the Allianz Arena and are believed to be ready to pounce on Shaqiri once the transfer window opens in January.
