Liverpool and Inter have been placed on alert by the news that contract talks between Ezequiel Lavezzi and Paris Saint-Germain have stalled.

Lavezzi has been consistently linked with Liverpool, where boss Brendan Rodgers is thought to be a firm fan of his talents.

New Inter coach Roberto Mancini meanwhile is keen to take Lavezzi to the San Siro as he looks to boost his side's chances of finishing in the top three in Serie A this term and qualifying for next season's Champions League.

PSG have been talking with Lavezzi over an extension to his current contract, which expires in 2016.

However, according to Paris-based daily Le Parisien, talks have stalled.

PSG are having to take a cautious approach to player contracts in light of UEFA's financial fair play rules, which prevented the signing of Angel di Maria from Real Madrid in the summer.

Should no way forward be found with Lavezzi, the French champions may look to cash in on the former Napoli forward.
