Joe Allen has insisted that last night’s display was a much improved performance by Liverpool even though they only managed a draw against Ludogorets.

The Reds could only manage a point in a 2-2 draw away to the Bulgarian minnows after Georgi Terziev scored a late equaliser for the home side.

A point means Liverpool must win their last home game against Basel in a fortnight to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Liverpool midfielder admits that a win would have been a better result, but stressed that their destiny is still in their own hands.

He also feels it was a much improved performance by the Reds after a few a disappointing results and believes that they were much more assured and composed in Bulgaria last night.

"You want to win games of course", Allen told the club’s official site.

"The most important thing is that we're still alive in the competition. It's good for it to be in our hands and for us [to be] in the position we are at the moment.”

"There were improvements all round. I think the commitment was there for everyone to see. I think we had more composure at times than we have had recently, so there were positive things.

"But to concede the goal like that from a set-piece is disappointing. We'll work on it to make sure that we're better next time."

Liverpool will look to get back to winning ways when they host Stoke on Saturday at Anfield.
