Ronny Deila believes his Celtic side have successfully "handled" Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League, despite losing 3-1 to the Austrians this evening at Paradise.

Celtic, who had been hoping to overhaul Red Bull Salzburg at the top of Group D with victory, quickly found themselves behind when Brazilian striker Alan fired home in just the eighth minute.

The Scottish champions were then shocked once again, Alan again the goalscorer and in just the 13th minute, after he took advantage of poor Celtic defending from a corner.

The Bhoys scored through Stefan Johansen in the 30th minute and then grew into the game in the second half, Aleksandar Tonev, James Forrest and Kris Commons all coming off the bench and having an impact.

Deila's men though could find no equaliser and, in pushing for it, conceded again at the death when Navy Keita struck.

Celtic do qualify though, following Dinamo Zagreb's defeat to FC Astra in Romania.

And Deila, whose side drew 2-2 with Salzburg in Austria, along with losing 3-1 this evening, is upbeat about his team's ability to live with the best.

"Everything is possible", Deila said on Celtic's Europa League chances, via the BBC.

"If we can handle this team that is the level we need to be at", the Norwegian added.

And on Salzburg, Deila explained: "Salzburg are a very good football team. They were very direct as we knew they were going to be."
