Former Manchester United and Celtic midfielder Roy Keane has parted ways with Aston Villa.

Keane was brought in to assist manager Paul Lambert over the summer, in response to Aston Villa's poor 2013/14 campaign, which saw the club again flirt with relegation.

However, just four months into the season, Keane has left Villa Park.

The Midlands giants announced: "Roy Keane has relinquished his role as #AVFC assistant manager with immediate effect."

The reasons for Keane's departure have not yet been confirmed.
