Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff believes that there is no reason for Lionel Messi to leave the club, but assumes that things might keep happening with the Argentine that people don't know about.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move out of the Camp Nou, with the player speaking about his uncertainty regarding his future with Barcelona.

The management and Messi's team-mates have repeatedly refuted claims about the possibility of Messi leaving the club. But Cruyff believes that for a player of his calibre things might keep on happening that people are not aware of.

"The management always support him. I have never heard the board of directors say that Messi has to pull his socks up or that there is a problem", Cruyff told Radio Cope.

"So there's no reason to for him to be annoyed, but maybe things are always happening with Messi that we don't know about."

The 67-year-old also took time to add that if the Argentine decides to move, it won't be due to financial reasons because he presently has no financial problems with the Catalan giants.

"I imagine that there are clubs willing to pay €200m for him, but he has no financial problems and so he won't be lured away by money.

"There are always rumours, but what we never know is just how true they are."
