Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane has been named Major League Soccer’s Most Valuable Player.

The 34-year-old joined LA Galaxy in 2011 from Tottenham and has been one of their star performers since his arrival at the club.

Keane captained LA Galaxy to the Western Conference title, and his 19 goals this season played a crucial role in the club reaching the MLS Cup final.

The Irishman has scored 68 goals along with 35 assists in 113 appearances for LA Galaxy and led them to MLS Cup titles in 2011 and 2012.

He is the first Galaxy player to win the award since former US star Landon Donovan in 2009.
