Arsenal are preparing a loan move for Atletico Madrid forward Alessio Cerci during the January transfer window, according to Spanish daily AS.

The Gunners were interested in signing Cerci in the summer, but the Italy international moved to the Spanish champions from Torino in a €16m deal.

However, Cerci has found game time hard to come by at Atletico Madrid, and has fallen down the pecking order behind fellow summer signings Mario Mandzukic and Antoine Griezmann.

The 27-year-old has thus far made just eight appearances in all competitions for Los Rojiblancos, scoring once.

Struggling Italian giants Inter Milan are also interested in acquiring the services of Cerci, and want to take the forward back to Serie A, where he scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists last term.
