The starting gun has been fired on the scramble for Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya after interested clubs were advised to lodge their interest in signing the Spaniard.

Montoya's agent, Juan de Dios Carrasco, met Barcelona officials on Thursday to communicate his client's desire to quit the Camp Nou next month. The defender has grown disillusioned at Barcelona after making just one appearance under new coach Luis Enrique this season.

Following the talks, interested parties are now being invited to register their interest in signing Montoya – and the right-back will not be short of potential destinations.

Montoya has been linked with Liverpool in England and Juventus and Napoli in Italy, while his agent claims to have offers on the table from clubs in the Premier League, Serie A and the Bundesliga.

According to reports in both Italy and Spain, Juventus have wasted no time in lodging their interest in Montoya and club CEO Giuseppe Marotta is expected to work hard to take the defender to Turin.
