Dutch fitness coach Raymond Verheijen has attacked the medical and fitness staff at Arsenal for the club’s injury woes.

Verheijen has also been a vocal critic of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal’s strenuous training methods and criticised the Dutchman even during the World Cup.

But now his ire is directed towards Arsenal after Aaron Ramsey picked up another injury on Tuesday and the man who has worked at three World Cups has termed the staff at the Emirates Stadium ‘amateurs’.

Verheijen also believes Robin van Persie’s drop in performance this season and his visible lack of fitness are because of the years he spent at Arsenal.

“Sad to read the news about yet another muscle injury for Aaron Ramsey”, Verheijen said on Twitter.

“His injury record at Arsenal is simply shocking for such [a] young player.

“RVP is only 31 years but more and more starts to look like an old man on pitch because of all damage done to his body during his Arsenal period.”

The Dutchman also believes that Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is lucky and believes he left Arsene Wenger’s side at the right moment of his career.

“Thankfully, Fabregas was able to escape Arsenal after a few years so the amateurs in London did not get the chance to also destroy his body.”
