Burnley manager Sean Dyche believes Liverpool are not ready to compete financially with the top clubs in England.

The Premier League’s top goalscorer last season, Luis Suarez, decided to leave Liverpool and joined Barcelona in the summer.

Instead of trying to land a marquee signing, Brendan Rodgers used Liverpool’s over £100m transfer kitty to strengthen his squad and brought Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert to replace Suarez.

On the other hand Manchester United, who finished seventh last season, spent big in the transfer window and brought in the likes of Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao to bolster their underperforming squad.

Chelsea bought La Liga’s top scorer last term Diego Costa and decided to bring Cesc Fabregas back in England to plug the gaps in their squad.

The Blues are currently leading the league table and after a difficult start to their campaign, while Manchester United have fought back to rise up to third in the table.

Meanwhile Liverpool are struggling to find consistency and are currently lying ninth. They have also been knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage.

Dyche feels Liverpool’s recruitment policy as a club is different to other top sides and believes the Reds are not willing to pay the kind of wages the likes of the Manchester clubs and Chelsea are prepared to offer to attract the top talent.

"Can Liverpool carry the super wage? Man City can. Chelsea can. Man United can”, the Burnley boss told BBC Radio 5 live.

“There's a mindset at those superpower clubs to pay at a different level and Liverpool, I don't think, are ready to pay to that.

"There's such a small pool of players as good as Suarez and the superpower clubs will blow you away. They'll go way beyond £150,000 a week with all different ways of paying them.

“Are Liverpool as a company, never mind a team, ready to go to that level?"
