Bayern Munich will turn their attention towards Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling if they fail to land Marco Reus in the summer.

Since Reus’s release clause became public knowledge earlier this year, some of Europe’s top clubs have been chasing the German international’s signature, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich are also in the queue, but with all the top clubs in the mix, the German champions have a plan B in place if they fail to land Reus.

Indeed, Pe Guardiola's men have identified Liverpool winger Sterling as a possible alternative target to Reus, according to Bild.

Sterling had a brilliant last season at Liverpool and is a key component of Brendan Rodgers’s side this term too, especially after they lost Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

But reports in England claimed last week that Sterling has knocked back a new contract offer from the Reds and is willing to weigh up his options, something which may pick up pace if Liverpool finish outside the top four.

With Bayern Munich lurking on the horizon, Rodgers will be desperate for Sterling to agree a new long-term deal and commit his future to Liverpool.
