Steven Gerrard feels a positive result and performance against Arsenal might turn out to be the catalyst for Liverpool’s revival this season.

Liverpool’s League Cup quarter-final win against Bournemouth earlier this week came as reprieve for a club, who recently were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage and suffered a demoralising 3-0 defeat at Manchester United last weekend.

A place in the last four of the League Cup and a genuine chance of landing a trophy this season has lifted some of the gloom surrounding Anfield, but Gerrard feels a win over the Championship leaders is just not enough.

The former England captain stated that one swallow doesn’t make a summer and Liverpool need to show the same kind of commitment against Arsenal this Sunday.

He believes a win over the Gunners could become the turning point of Liverpool’s season and might allow the Reds to recover from a slow start to their campaign.

"We need to keep going and keep winning”, the Liverpool captain told the club’s official site.

“We have a tough game at the weekend against Arsenal and then we have got a run of fixtures which are a bit more kind to us.

"If we can get a big result against Arsenal and build on this, I think we can turn it around. I think this is where you find out what kind of players you've got in the dressing room.”

"It's time to roll your sleeves up and fight for the club and try to put things right as soon as possible – and that's what we're trying to do."
