Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is unhappy with the press for asking questions about goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

The former Barcelona custodian is training with the Red Devils in a bid to return to full fitness and, as a free agent, has been strongly linked with signing for Manchester United.

However, Valdes has also been strongly linked with Liverpool, who are on the lookout for a goalkeeper and have been on the Spaniard's tail.

Van Gaal was asked about Valdes at a press conference today and did not cut a happy figure in his reply, accusing the media of inventing stories about the former Barcelona custodian.

"It's only talk from you [the media]. Not from us, not from Valdes, only the media. I'm not here to inform the media. You have to wait and listen and see", he said.

"If Liverpool are interested, he goes to Liverpool.

"The media are suggesting and that's a big mistake. That's why I'm always angry because you are inventing stories. There are no stories.

"He is training here. I give him the possibility to do that. We shall see", he added.
