Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva’s agents are in Milan as Inter try to negotiate a loan deal for the Brazilian international.

A certain starter in the Liverpool first eleven a few seasons ago, the 27-year-old midfielder’s status at Anfield has now been reduced to that of a squad player.

Making only six appearances in the league this term, Lucas is considering his future at Liverpool and is ready to assess his options in January.

Inter have been tracking developments on Merseyside and are ready to make a final push to land the Brazilian midfielder.

According to Tuttosport, the player’s agents are already in Milan to negotiate with the Nerazzurri and the club are keen on signing Lucas on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Inter are in the market to sign a defensive midfielder and have identified Lucas as the player who can shore up the middle of the park, but it is still not clear whether they want to make the move permanent next summer.

It also remains to be seen whether Brendan Rodgers will want to lose the midfielder without signing a replacement.
