Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he has huge respect for Liverpool supporters and believes they possess huge knowledge of the game.

Wenger takes his Arsenal side to Anfield to lock horns with Liverpool in a Premier League encounter tomorrow, knowing the last time he made such a journey his team were demolished 5-1.




Both Arsenal and Liverpool are some way off contending for the Premier League title, but Wenger still expects a special atmosphere and heads to Merseyside with respect for Reds fans.

 


"There’s a special atmosphere", he told a press conference.

"I have a lot of respect for the crowd at Liverpool because they stand behind their team.

"I remember one day we were leading 5-1 at Liverpool and they were chanting ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. It’s one of the few grounds in the world where you can see that.

"There’s a special combination of knowledge of the game at Liverpool and support for their team.

"I have a huge respect for that", Wenger added.

Arsenal currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, while Liverpool are a lowly eleventh.
