Roma president James Pallotta has insisted that Giallorossi midfielder Kevin Strootman will not be joining Manchester United.

The Dutch midfielder has been consistently linked with a move to Manchester United as Louis van Gaal is a big fan of the 24-year-old.

The Manchester United manager would have tried to sign him in the summer if Strootman had not been injured and is now ready to make a move for him after the midfielder completely recovered from his cruciate ligament injury.

It has been claimed that a deal is all but done for Strootman to join Manchester United, but the transfer will happen next summer and not in January.

But the Roma hierarchy have continued to deny those rumours and Pallotta is adamant about Strootman not leaving the club.

He also indicated that the midfielder is a key component of Roma’s future plans as the club look to continue to grow from last season’s second place finish in Serie A.

“Strootman will not be joining Manchester United”, Pallotta told Roma Radio.

“We will continue to fight for the league title and the Champions League in the coming years.”
