Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva feels fixtures against the relegation-threatened teams always prove to be tough encounters.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled to string together a run of positive results this season and are tenth in the league table on 22 points.

They take on Burnley later today in front of a raucous Turf Moor crowd and Lucas admits that it is going to be a tough game to handle for the Reds.

Burnley are 18th in the league table and Lucas feels that makes them an even more dangerous team to face as they will be battling out of their skins to save their Premier League status.

The midfielder admits Liverpool will need to beat teams like Burnley to add fuel to their top four ambitions and start climbing up the table.

"If you watch the games against the bottom teams, it's always tough and it's always hard”, Lucas told Premier League Productions.

“The game is really tight and you really have to battle. You have to challenge and I think that's why people like the Premier League.

"There's always good games to watch.

“We just need the points because we want to improve and get higher up the table and hopefully that will come against Burnley."
