Arsenal have been linked with being ready to make a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder and Napoli target Mario Suarez in January.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign a defensive midfielder next month and has been scouring the market for ideal candidates, mindful of the spate of injury problems he has suffered in the centre of the park of late.
After running the rule over several transfer targets, the Frenchman is taking a keen interest in the Atletico Madrid Midfielder.
The Spaniard is a crucial member of Diego Simeone’s squad and the player himself brushed aside talk of a transfer earlier this month.

But according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, citing Spanish sources, Arsenal are ready to make a surprise move for the Spaniard in January.
Though Atletico Madrid are not keen on losing the midfielder in the middle of the season, Wenger is keen to test the resolve of the Spanish champions.
The 27-year-old midfielder has made 18 appearances for Atletico Madrid in all competitions this season.
