World Cup winning Germany coach Joachim Low believes his team need some tweaking in order to stay on top as they look ahead to winning the European Championship in 2016.

Low led Germany to their fourth World Cup trophy when they defeated Argentina 1-0 in a close encounter in Brazil last summer.

The Germany manager has already set his sights on the next piece of silverware as he readies his side for the European Championship to be held in France next summer.

In an interview with the German press agency DPA, he admitted his world number one team need some modifications to stay ahead of the chasing pack.

“We're at the top right now. We're world champions and have been ranked number one in FIFA's world rankings for the last year.

“I get the feeling that we have to maintain the foundations of the team, but also tweak some aspects of it. Our aim is to follow up our World Cup win by winning the European Championships in 2016.

"Titles won in the past count for nothing in the future. Now we have to look forward and tweak some parts of the team.”

Germany, who are placed in Group D of the European Championship qualifying round, will look to justify their billing as potential group winners when qualifying resumes.
