West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has indicated that clubs have made an illegal approach for their defender Winston Reid and feels a deal is already in place.

Reid is out of contract at West Ham at the end of the season and the Hammers boss has admitted that the defender won’t sign a new deal with the club.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal are in the market to sign an experienced centre half and they have been linked with a move for the New Zealand international.

As per regulations Reid is only allowed to talk to foreign clubs in January over a move in the summer, but Allardyce has hinted towards a more sinister plot.

He believes Reid’s next destination has already been decided and feels a club or clubs made an illegal approach to the player’s representatives.

But he admits that the way the deals are done these days it is impossible to prove transfer misconduct against any club in the current scenario.

"You hear rumours. But can we prove it?" Allardyce was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"If you can prove that clubs have broken the rules, then they are in serious trouble aren't they? But you can't prove it these days. You hear rumours, this, that and the other.

"It might have nothing to do with the two clubs directly, it could be between two agents, so how can you relate that to the football clubs? You can't, so it can all get done that way."
