Roma have been left fuming at PSV Eindhoven's signing of young Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca.

The powerful forward has been dubbed the "new Zlatan Ibrahimovic" and has chosen to continue his footballing education in the Netherlands, leaving Roma to link up with PSV.

The 16-year-old, who was on the books at Roma, has cost PSV just a training fee of €270,000 to sign.

Roma launched frantic efforts to keep Scamacca with a six-year contract, but saw the starlet leave, something which has left them fuming.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Roma's reason for anger is that a number of clubs were willing to pay big money to sign Scamacca.

If Roma had signed the 16-year-old to a contract, they could have sold him to Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal or Real Madrid, all clubs interested in the tall striker.

But it is PSV who have snapped up Scamacca.

The Italian has signed until 2017.
