Derby County’s new signing Stephen Warnock is delighted with his move from Leeds United as he looks forward to helping his new team push for promotion to the Premier League this season.

Warnock has signed an 18-month long contract with an option for a further year at the iPro Stadium, linking up with boss Steve McClaren.




The 33-year-old praised his team-mates at his first press conference as a Derby County player and said he is looking forward to helping the youngsters in the squad.

 


"I have come here to learn and pass on my experience to the younger players in what is a tremendously talented squad", Warnock said.

"The head coach has brought together a team full of talent. I am going to show fight to break into the team."

The left-back further added that gaining promotion to the Premier League this season with Derby County, who are currently sitting second in the Championship table with 48 points, would be a dream come true.

"This team is geared up to be in the Premier League and to be part of that is a great thing for me."

"I have been impressed with the set up at the club. I want to play in the Premier League again, that's why I am here”, he concluded.
