Standard Liege have jumped ahead of Celtic in the race to sign Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Tal Ben Haim.

Ronny Deila's Bhoys have been linked with moving for the 25-year-old Israel international, but Standard Liege are also keen on securing his services.




According to Belgian daily Het Laaste Nieuws, the Jupiler Pro League side have lodged a bid of €1.8m with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

 


It remains to be seen whether the Israeli outfit will agree to part with Ben Haim this month.

The 25-year-old has played all his football in his homeland, with spells at Maccabi Petah Tikva and Hapoel Tel Aviv prior to joining Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Ben Haim has clocked up 14 appearances in the Israeli top flight this term, scoring five goals.
