Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon has insisted that the club have no plans to sell Liverpool-linked midfielder Gokhan Inler.

The 30-year-old Swiss international has been in and out of Rafael Benitez’s Napoli side this season and has not seen a single minute of league action since the start of last month.

It is believed that the player is frustrated at being consistently ignored for selection and is looking for a way out of the club, news which is sure to have placed his suitors on red alert.

But Bigon has rubbished such speculation and stressed that Napoli have no intention of selling a player whom they consider an important part of their squad.

“Inler is a good player who is not consistently playing so the rumours are expected”, Bigon told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“He is an important player and we have no intention of selling him this month.”

Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for the experienced midfielder last year, but it remains to be seen whether the club are still interested in the player, who is feeling unsettled in Naples.
