Bayer Leverkusen are weighing up a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado as a replacement for wantaway forward Josip Drmic.

Though the club have made it clear that they won’t sell the Swiss forward this month, the 22-year-old is desperate to leave the club for more first team football, with Hamburg interested in his services.

Leverkusen are not keen on parting with Drmic, but are drawing up contingency plans in case they are forced to sell the forward.

According to Sport Bild, the Bundesliga outfit have zeroed in on Tottenham’s Soldado as the one who could potentially replace Drmic at the BayArena this month.

The Spaniard is playing second fiddle to Harry Kane at White Hart Lane this season and has only made seven league starts for the club.

While the deal will depend on Drmic leaving Leverkusen, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are willing to part with the experienced forward in the middle of their campaign.

Soldado has only found the back of the net four times in 25 appearances for Spurs in all competitions this season.
