Liverpool have lodged an enquiry with French giants Marseille over midfielder Mario Lemina.

Brendan Rodgers is impressed with the 21-year-old, despite the fact that he has failed to so far nail down a regular starting spot at the Stade Velodrome.

Lemina only arrived at Marseille in the summer of 2013, signing on the dotted line until 2018.

The former Lorient man has made 14 appearances for Marseille so far this term, but has not hammered down a starting spot under Marcelo Bielsa.

An enquiry from Liverpool has gone in though, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

Lemina, born in Gabon, represents France at international level and has been capped by the country's Under-20s and Under-21s.

Gabon called him up for the ongoing African Cup of Nations, but Lemina refused the call.
