According to Turin-based daily La Stampa, Manchester United have submitted an audacious €80m bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba left Manchester United to join Juventus in the summer of 2012 and now the Red Devils are desperate to re-sign their former midfielder, who has flourished in Italy.

At 21, he is one of the most coveted midfielders on the market and clubs such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also hanging on to his coattails.

But Manchester United have backed up their interest by submitting a €80m bid for the 21-year-old on Tuesday and are now waiting for a reply from Juventus.

Though Juventus are reluctant to lose the midfielder in the middle of the season, the offer from Manchester United is a tempting one and is expected to make the club think twice before rejecting it.

Manchester United have also offered a pay package of around €9m per season to Pogba, which will make him one of the top earners at Old Trafford.

Should the Bianconeri accept the bid, Manchester United would have beaten the British record for transfer fee twice in a space of six months.

However, Juventus are still in the Champions League and it remains to be seen whether Pogba would want to join the Red Devils in the middle of the season.
