Real Madrid have agreed a deal in principle with Cruzeiro for the services of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva, in news which will come as a blow to Arsene Wenger's Arsenal.

Silva’s father has admitted that Real Madrid have reopened talks with the Brazilian outfit over a deal that will see his son move to the Bernabeu.

Cruzeiro were demanding €15m for their midfielder, which Arsenal were prepared to pay, but Real Madrid were reluctant to fork out such a figure for the 21-year-old.

However, according to Madrid-based daily Marca, Los Blancos, Cruzeiro and the player’s agent were locked in negotiations last night and finally a deal in principle has been agreed between both clubs for Silva.

Once the finer details of the deal are ironed out between the clubs, the Brazilian will arrive in Madrid to sign on the dotted line at the Bernabeu.
