Newcastle United have been linked with making a move to appoint former Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster as their new manager.

The Magpies are on the lookout for a new manager following Alan Pardew's departure to take over at Crystal Palace, amid significant fan opposition to his reign at St. James' Park.

Now Schuster, who has refused all coaching offers since he left La Liga outfit Malaga last year, is on Newcastle's list and open to the switch, according to German daily Bild.

Schuster has a comprehensive coaching CV, having taken charge of Fortuna Koln, 1.FC Koln, Xerez, Shakhtar Donetsk, Levante, Getafe, Real Madrid, Besiktas and most recently Malaga.
