Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has refused an opportunity to stoke the transfer rumour fires.

Hummels has been continually linked with a move away from the struggling Bundesliga outfit, with Manchester United regularly mooted as being keen on tempting him to Old Trafford.

And with Borussia Dortmund locked in a battle simply to survive in the Bundesliga this term, something which means Champions League football in 2015/16 is almost an impossibility, transfer talk surrounding the centre-back has gone into overdrive.

Asked by German daily Bild whether he could imagine himself staying at Borussia Dortmund without Champions League football, Hummels replied: "Are you looking for a headline?"

And the Germany international continued: "No, I will keep going the way I've been going for seven years.

"I'll let everything come to me and just look forward to the restart [of the Bundesliga] at Leverkusen. Everything else, I'm not thinking about."

And specifically on talk he is being targeted by Manchester United along with team-mate Ilkay Gundogan, Hummels answered: "I can't imagine that. It's not the case with any of us that this has been written for the first time. And with me rumours are always going around, but I'm still here."

Borussia Dortmund find themselves sat 17th in the Bundesliga table, second bottom, with only 15 points from 17 games.

The Ruhr giants have lost ten of their 17 games, standing in stark contrast to the side they were expected to push for the title this term, Bayern Munich, who have yet to taste defeat.
