New Leeds United signing Sol Bamba insists it was easy for him to decide to leave Italian outfit Palermo to head to Elland Road, with the Yorkshire giants' reputation speaking for itself.

Bamba, who is no stranger to the cut and thrust of British football having played for both Leicester City and Hibernian, has linked up with Leeds on loan until the end of the season.

Leeds also have an option to keep the 30-year-old on a permanent basis should he impress during his time at the club.

Bamba admits he first became aware of Leeds' interest two weeks ago and, when hearing the news, instantly recognised the name and reputation, making him at once open to the deal.

"It was two weeks ago", he told the club's site, when asked when he first became aware of Leeds wanting him.

"Palermo came to me and said that Leeds were interested.

"From that day I knew it would be an easy decision for me. I’m glad to be here.

"Everyone knows about the history of the club in English football.

"The most important thing for me is to play because I didn’t have that chance in Italy", Bamba continued.

"So to be able to play for a big club like Leeds made it an easy decision for me."

Bamba has gone straight into boss Neil Redfearn's squad for this coming weekend's Championship clash against Huddersfield Town.

He is expected to imminently be joined by Palermo team-mate Granddi N'Goyi, who is also joining Leeds on loan until the end of the campaign.
