Valencia have announced that forward Paco Alcacer has extended his contract at the Mestalla, which will see him stay at the club until June 2020.

Alcacer has scored eight goals and assisted six more this season so far. His stellar rise over the last two seasons has seen Arsenal linked with targeting the youngster, but a product of Valencia’s youth academy, he has chosen to stay at the club, news which will disappoint his many suitors across Europe.

The 21-year-old made his debut for the Spanish national team last September and in his five games for La Roja so far he has scored three goals.

Speaking to official club channel VCFplay after the agreement, Alcacer expressed his happiness at extending his stay at Valencia.

“I am delighted and proud to be continuing at Valencia CF for five more seasons.

"I want to thank the club for the confidence in me that they are showing.

"What I have to do now is pay them back by scoring goals and giving everything that I have to help the team.”
