Andrea Pirlo has warned Manchester United that they won't get a second chance with Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder ran down his contract and left Manchester United in 2012, disappointed with a lack of opportunities, and pitched his tent at Juventus.

Pogba has flourished at Juventus, establishing himself as one of the most promising young midfielders in European football and carving out a spot in the senior France squad.

It has been claimed Manchester United want to re-sign Pogba and are willing to break the bank to do so.

But Pogba's Juventus team-mate Pirlo feels the Red Devils are wasting their time as the 21-year-old will not return to Old Trafford.

Speaking on French TV programme Telefoot, Pirlo commented: "Whatever the reasons, they chose not to give him an opportunity and that is a mistake they now have to live with

"I do not think that he will ever return to Manchester United."

Pirlo claims that when Pogba arrived at Juventus, his team-mates quickly saw they had a player of quality on their hands.

"When he first joined us in training at Juventus we knew there was something about him, and in just two years he has become one of the best players in the world", the veteran pass-master explained.

Pogba's team-mate is also not surprised that the Frenchman has attracted attention from rival clubs, explaining that he is playing at an impressive level.

"Of course he is going to have options, he knows that. You can't play at the level he is and not attract attention.

"However, he also knows that at Juventus he is already at one of the biggest clubs in Europe."

Pogba, who was handed the Golden Boy award in 2013, has won two successive Serie A titles in Turin.
