Following their FA Cup exit, Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend believes his side need to focus on their League Cup match against Sheffield United as they bid to book a trip to Wembley.

The north Londoners lost their fourth round FA Cup tie 2-1 to Leicester City at White Hart Lane on Saturday and now the League Cup is their only hope of a Wembley visit.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have the upper hand ahead of the second leg of their League Cup semi-final final tie against Sheffield United having beaten the Blades 1-0 courtesy of a 74th minute spot kick converted by Townsend.

The England international is not bogged down by their FA Cup exit and believes they need to remain positive when they visit Bramall Lane tomorrow.

“We have to remain positive, the games come thick and fast”, Townsend told the club site.

"We now play a Capital One Cup semi-final with Wembley the target, so we’ve still a lot to look forward to and hopefully we’ll bring the positivity back on Wednesday.”

The 23-year-old called their League Cup fixture an important tie and a chance for the club to forget about the weekend’s loss with a positive result tomorrow.

“Wednesday is a massive game and hopefully we can put the smiles back on the faces of everyone associated with the club.

“That is what everyone is focused on doing and putting the FA Cup defeat behind us”, he concluded.

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United in the second leg of their League Cup tie tomorrow, where a win will see them play the winner of the other semi-final between Chelsea and Liverpool at Wembley.
