Manchester United have decided to grant veteran midfielder Darren Fletcher a free transfer so that he can join a new club this month.

The Scot is believed to be looking to end his long-term association with Manchester United this month after playing just 12 times this season for the Red Devils.

La Liga side Valencia are interested in signing the 30-year-old, but it is believed that Fletcher is keen on staying in England.

Both Sam Allardyce's West Ham and Tony Pulis' West Brom are interested in adding the five-time Premier League winner to their squad and have openly talked about their liking for the midfielder.

Fletcher’s contract with the Red Devils expires in the summer, but according to the BBC, the club are ready to grant him a free transfer to facilitate his move to a new club this month.

Though Dutch manager Louis van Gaal has indicated that he is not keen on losing such a senior player as Fletcher in the middle of the season, the club are preparing to bid farewell to their long-standing servant in the winter transfer window.

Fletcher has won five Premier League titles, one Champions League and an FA Cup, amongst various other honours since he made his debut in 2001. He was named club vice-captain by Van Gaal in the summer.
