Aston Villa chief executive Tom Fox has revealed that owner Randy Lerner is not a motivated seller at the present time.

Paul Lambert’s side have struggled to score goals since he took charge in the summer of 2012; in the 98 Premier League matches since they have scored 97 goals.

This season they have scored only 11 goals so far, the fewest goals of any team in the Premier League as they sit 15th in the table, only three points clear of the relegation zone.

Aston Villa’s on-pitch travails have been accompanied by certainty off it as Lerner put the club up for sale last summer, though so far no takeover has occurred.

Despite Lerner’s attempts to sell the club, Fox has revealed that the United States national is not a motivated seller as of now.

"I don't think he's a motivated seller right now”, Fox told BBC Sport.

“I think he'll want to make sure that he's put Aston Villa on the best possible path for the future”, he added.

Fox also claimed that Lerner is enjoying life as Aston Villa owner and paying close attention to the club's fortunes.

"He's very involved in the football club, he watches every match.

"I've been at his house watching matches together and both of us are standing up pacing around at various points of time – depending on what's happening – so he know's what's happening here.

"He's very, very well informed as to the business side of what's happening on the pitch."
