Valencia are close to agreeing a deal to sign Liverpool target and PSV Eindhoven winger Zakaria Bakkali, winning the race for the highly rated youngster.

The 19-year-old’s contract with PSV expires at the end of the term and he was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool last summer after refusing to pen an extension at the Philips Stadion.

Inter Milan were also touted as one of the clubs who might make a move for him this month, but it seems the player is on his way to Spain.

According to Sky Italia, La Liga side Valencia are closing in on an agreement to sign the talented winger, although it is unclear whether the Nerazzurri want him now or in the summer.

After being chased by innumerable clubs last summer, the Belgian winger is on the verge of moving to the Mestalla this summer.

PSV did try to tie down Bakkali to a new contract, but he refused to sign a new deal and put himself in the shop window to move to on to another club.

Bakkali, who is currently sidelined with a groin injury, has not seen a single minute of action in the senior team this season and has only made five appearances for PSV’s Under-21 side.

Given his talent, Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes also tried to enlist the youngster as one of his clients last year.
