Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has revealed they will not rely on any one playing style and are experimenting with alternatives as they prepare to host Barcelona in a Spanish Cup tie this evening.

Simeone’s side lost the first leg of their Spanish Cup quarter-final tie 1-0 against Barcelona at the Camp Nou and will look to overcome the deficit as they bid to progress further in the competition.

Los Rojiblancos have been a threat from counter attacks and set pieces and they troubled the Catalans from the same tactics in their encounters last season, but the Argentine has revealed he is looking to add more to Atletico Madrid’s arsenal.

"We have improved on set-pieces in defence and attack a lot. We are looking at alternatives though”, Simeone said at pre-match press conference.

The Argentine further added that his innovations are being devised to neutralise the threat of tall Barcelona players and the close season addition of Luis Suarez in the Catalan ranks.

“They have tall players, and Suarez who is more aggressive, and that will make us better defensively”, Simeone concluded.

Atletico Madrid will host Barcelona in the second leg of their Spanish Cup quarter-final tie at the Vicente Calderon this evening.
