Newly signed Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Paulista believes that the Gunners have sufficient talent to compete for important trophies every year.

Gabriel has arrived from La Liga outfit Villarreal following his assured displays at the heart of the Yellow Submarine’s defence in the Spanish top flight.

Arsenal won the FA Cup last year and have qualified for the fifth round of the competition this season. They sit a distant fifth in the Premier League, 13 points behind Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

Wenger’s men have also qualified for the Champions League round of 16, where they are drawn to play Monaco when the competition resumes in February.

However, the Gunners last won a league title in the 2003/04 season and are still looking for their first Champions League trophy. The Brazilian admitted that a club of Arsenal’s stature should be challenging for the important trophies every year, something he expects to be the case.
