Brendan Rodgers does not expect Liverpool to have any problems tying down Raheem Sterling to a new contract at the club, despite talks continuing to rumble on with no conclusion yet in sight.

The forward, it is claimed, has turned down a number of offers from the Merseyside giants to extend his deal, further adding to speculation that he could quit Anfield.

Sterling has been linked with Real Madrid, but Liverpool are continuing talks with his representatives and Rodgers does not sense that the England international wants to leave last season's Premier League runners-up. Indeed, the Northern Irishman claims that Sterling is happy to continue his career with the Reds.

Asked about Sterling contract talks at a press conference, the Liverpool manager replied: "It's all in hand with the football club and his representatives.

"Raheem is very happy here.

"He's a young player who is playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"I spoke to Raheem again today and he's happy and happy with his progress."

And Rodgers is sure that Sterling, who he claims is always eager to learn, feels Liverpool are the best club at which to continue his development as a player.

"He's a real sponge for learning and he knows he is in the right place."

Sterling has recently been spearheading Liverpool's attack, however his position may change following the recovery of Daniel Sturridge from injury.
