Iker Casillas has insisted that he is happy at Real Madrid, but stressed that he is serious about playing in the MLS in the future.

The Real Madrid skipper revealed earlier this week that he is keen on taking a different challenge towards the fag end of his career and wants to play in the MLS in the future.

After a difficult couple of seasons where he was not the first choice goalkeeper at the Santiago Bernabeu, Casillas managed to again cement himself as the undisputed Real Madrid number one this term.

Though happy at Real Madrid at the moment, Casillas insisted that he is serious about playing in the MLS in the future.

However, the World Cup winner is refusing to look too far ahead at the moment and said that he is concentrating on continuing at Real Madrid for a few more years before anything else.

“My comments about my future were said with total sincerity”, Casillas told AS.

“I am not looking that far ahead right now, but I am not immortal and I know that maybe I won’t be able to play until I am 38 or 39 – I’m not going to last forever and we have to be realistic.

“I like the North American game and it’s attractive to me, but I am happy at Real Madrid and I’m not thinking too much about what might lie ahead.”

There has been talk that Real Madrid are lining up Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea as the veteran custodian’s long-term replacement.
