Daniel Sturridge says he is proud of how Raheem Sterling has performed for Liverpool, after the Reds beat West Ham 2-0 at Anfield today.

Liverpool quickly began to dominate possession at Anfield, but could not find the breakthrough, with West Ham providing stubborn resistance to hang on to a 0-0 scoreline by the time the whistle blew for half-time.

But a magical through ball from Philippe Coutinho in the 51st minute, which played in Sterling, saw Liverpool go 1-0 up, the England international making no mistake.

Liverpool had to wait for their second, with it arriving via Sturridge, on off the bench to replace Lazar Markovic.

Coutinho was again the provider, playing in Sturridge, who made no mistake with a right-footed shot blasted into the bottom right hand corner.

Sterling continued to trouble West Ham, while Sturridge scuffed a shot, the ball having fallen to him from a Sterling shot, missing a good chance.

Liverpool could find no third, but with West Ham having no answer to being 2-0 down, eased to the three points at Anfield.

For Sturridge, Sterling was again excellent and the striker feels that his team-mate has done a superb job in his absence.

"He's done extremely well and he's worked hard as well, so he's been doing extremely well", Sturridge told LFC TV.

"I'm proud of him, as the older brother, to look at him and see how well he's done.

"I hope he continues to work hard and improve every day. He doesn't get big headed, he takes it in his stride and I take him under my arm.

"I give him all the credit in the world and I'm proud of him", the striker concluded.
