Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that striker Javier Hernandez did not leave the club because he is valued at the Spanish outfit.

Hernandez, who arrived at Real Madrid on a loan deal from Manchester United at the start of the current season, has since made only nine league appearances for the club, all but one of which have come as a substitute.

Real Madrid have an abundance of attacking talent up front, which saw the Mexico international being linked with a move away from the European champions in the January transfer window, but he has stayed put.

Ancelotti has insisted that the club value his contributions and that they will need him as the season approaches its business end, hence their decision to keep him.

“He has stayed with us because we signed him and we need him”, Ancelotti said at a press conference, when asked about Real Madrid keeping Hernandez.

The Italian further added that Hernandez is happy at the club and he has proven himself to be a great professional through his conduct at the Bernabeu.

“I don't know how many minutes we'll need him for. He has come to see me, we talked and he's happy.

“He has proved to be a great professional.”
