Gonzalo Higuain’s father, who also acts as his agent, has indicated that his son intends to respect his contract with Napoli and will remain at the club for the duration of the agreement.

The Argentine striker, whose contract expires in the summer of 2018, has been heavily linked with a move to English giants Liverpool since last summer.

The former Real Madrid striker is a key component of Rafael Benitez’s Napoli side and has been in fine form this season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions.

However, there has been speculation that Napoli are expecting the forward to leave the club this coming summer and have already lined up FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez as a possible replacement for the Argentine.

But Jorge Higuain rubbished such speculation surrounding his son’s future and said that the striker wants to respect his agreement with Napoli, hinting that when his son hits 30 years old it may be time for a new adventure.

“Gonzalo has a contract with Napoli until 2018”, Jorge told Pasionmonumental.com.

“In that year he turns 30 and we’ll see what happens then.”

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool, who have seen summer striking signings Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli struggle to make an impact, move for Higuain in the summer.
