Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has been contacted by QPR about succeeding Harry Redknapp at Loftus Road, according to the BBC.

Redknapp resigned as R's boss yesterday, citing the need to undergo knee surgery as the reason behind his decision to stand down from his post.

The ex-Portsmouth manager was under severe pressure with QPR sitting in the Premier League relegation zone, while he is also thought to have been unhappy with the club's inability to make signings on transfer deadline day.

QPR appointed Les Ferdinand as their director of football earlier today and now an attempt is being made to draft in Sherwood as manager.

Sherwood has now been contacted by the London club over the post, though no deal has been agreed.

The ex-Spurs boss enjoys a good relationship with Ferdinand, with whom he worked during his time at White Hart Lane.

QPR have vowed to move to a policy of bringing through your talents, with Sherwood looking an attractive proposition due to his time spent with Spurs' youth talents.
