Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff’s agent has revealed that Manchester City, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have tried to sign his client in the last few seasons.

The 28-year-old French midfielder has been on the radar of top European clubs for a few years now, but a move away from Lyon has so far failed to materialise.

Earning 32 caps for France, he has been one of the more consistent performers in Ligue 1 over the last few seasons and has also been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past.

Didier Poulmaire, the player’s agent, did reveal that Gourcuff rejected two offers to leave Lyon in the winter window of 2014 and has said that big clubs have been knocking on his client’s door for a while now.

He named clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, who have tried and failed to sign his client over the last few years.

“In any transfer window some foreign clubs do come knocking at the door of Yoann”, Poulmaire told Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

“In the past it was Manchester City, who came forward and this year it happened to be Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.

“The top clubs are aware of his talent and I am sure there will be transfer offers for him during the next window too.”

Gourcuff has made 125 appearances for Lyon, scoring 19 goals and providing 27 assists.
