Swansea City club director John van Zweden has rubbished allegations that he has used expletives against Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal during a recent clash between the two clubs.

It has been claimed that the Swansea director termed Van Gaal an ‘arrogant b*****d’ after the Red Devils suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Liberty Stadium last weekend.

Swansea have taken the matter seriously and have said that if the allegations against Van Zweden is proven true then the club will take strong against the Dutchman. The Swans added that they pride themselves on sharing a good relationship with other clubs and won’t allow anyone to spoil their name.

However, the club director stressed that he did not use any derogatory term to describe the Manchester United manager and said that he only called him ‘arrogant’. He also claimed that Van Gaal did not want to shake his hand or congratulate him on Swansea's win.

“I did not use the word b********d at all”, Van Zweden told Dutch daily the Algemeen Dagblad.

“A reporter asked Van Gaal if he wanted to congratulate me, but he said something unkind along the lines of ‘he is an annoying guy, I don't need to shake his hand.'

“I then said that I find him arrogant.”

On being asked that whether Swansea will speak to him over the issue, Van Zweden admits he does expect to discuss the matter with the club and has already exchanged correspondence with chairman Huw Jenkins.

“There will undoubtedly be a conversation between me and the [Swansea] chairman and we have shared mails.”

Van Zweden did taunt Manchester United’s Dutch players such as Daley Blind and Robin van Persie on Twitter after Swansea’s win on Saturday.
