Chelsea youngster Lewis Baker has followed in the footsteps of Patrick Bamford and made a loan move to League One outfit MK Dons for the remainder of the season.

Baker completed the move on Wednesday and is determined to follow in the footsteps of Bamford, who arrived at Stadium MK in November 2012 and scored 18 goals for the Dons, before departing from the club in January last year.

Bamford’s stay in League One proved to be a success and he is now playing for Premier League promotion contenders Middlesbrough. And he has netted ten times in the Championship along with his three assists for Aitor Karanka’s side.

England Under-20 captain hopes to follow the same route to success as Bamford and hopes that his move to League One is equally successful.

“Patrick’s a great player and a great person, he’s now in the Championship and I personally think he could play in the Premier League”, Baker told the MK Dons site.

“He came here and did really well and hopefully I can too.

“I’m definitely exciting by this opportunity”, he added.

Jose Mourinho has often called up Chelsea youngsters to train with his first team and Baker is among the players that have trained with the Blues’ first team. And the youngster feels that the senior exposure has been good for him.

“I’ve learnt a lot this season training with the Chelsea first-team on a regular basis and I also enjoyed my time at Sheffield Wednesday.

“I’ve gained valuable experience everywhere I’ve gone so far and hopefully that will continue here.”
