PSV Eindhoven sporting director Toon Gerbrands admits that they are expecting to be put under pressure to sanction Manchester United linked winger Memphis Depay’s sale soon.

The winger, who impressed for Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands side in the World Cup, has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer.

Van Gaal is believed to be an admirer of the 21-year-old and is thought to be plotting a bid to take him to Old Trafford at the end of the season to add to the considerable creative talents his team already possess.

Though there have been no concrete offers made for Depay to PSV by any club, the club are expecting to face a stiff fight in the summer to keep him in Eindhoven.

Gerbrands admits that there have been no offers made for the Dutch international, but believes that they will come under pressure to sanction his sale soon.

“Until now, no one has approached us with an offer for Depay”, the PSV sporting director was quoted as saying by Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato.

“But I believe we will be soon under pressure to sanction his sale.”

Depay has continued to impress in PSV colours this season too, scoring 21 goals and providing six assists in 31 appearances in all competitions.

However, he could not help his side avoid a 3-1 defeat at home to Ajax in Eredivisie action at the weekend.
